President's Report

Greetings members!

I first and foremost wanted to take the time to extend a thank you to all those who submitted applications for Project and Engineer of the Year. We had many well qualified applicants this year. Congratulations again to the selected Projects-of-the-Year: CIty of Santa Barbara Cacique Bridge and Montecito Sanitary District Miramor Lift Station and Engineer-of-the-Year Kinsey Hensley, P.E. (Jensen Design & Survey). Well done!

We have had the opportunity to host some exciting meetings this spring. In March we had the opportunity to learn more about AMI meter technology implementation from the Channel Islands Beach Community Service District. In April we organized a tour of the CIty of Santa Barbara Desalination Plant. If anyone missed out on the tour and would like to be placed on an interest for a future tour, please contact myself or one of our officers. Also, many thanks for Larry Gurrola for presenting on the January 9th Montecito Debris Flows!

If anyone has any ideas for upcoming meetings, community service events, or professional development events please reach out - our Board would love to hear them.

I hope to see you at one of our happy hours in Santa Barbara or Ventura this summer.

Erin LaBuda, P.E., M. ASCE

Santa Barbara/Ventura Branch President

Recap

The desal tour was a success, as was the happy hour The Bluewater Grill after.  We are looking into organizing another tour this fall so those who were not able to secure a spot on the last tour will be able to attend the next one.  We will keep everyone posted.
