March 2019 Newsletter
I hope your 2019 is off to a great start!
I first and foremost wanted to take the time to extend a thank you to all those who submitted applications for Project and Engineer of the Year. We had many well qualified applicants this year! And congratulations again to the selected Projects-of-the-Year: CIty of Santa Barbara Cacique Bridge and Montecito Sanitary District Miramor Lift Station and Engineer-of-the-Year Kinsey Hensley, P.E. (Jensen Design & Survey). Well done!
We have some exciting meetings coming up this spring. This month we will have the opportunity to learn more about AMI meter technology implementation for the Channel Islands Beach Community Service District. In April we will be organizing a tour of the CIty of Santa Barbara Desalination Plant. I am looking forward to finally giving our members an opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at the plant. Space is limited but for those who are unable to attend or cannot attend due to space limitations we hope to offer a second tour in the coming months. Following the tour I look forward to networking with our local members at our first happy hour of the year.
If anyone has any ideas for upcoming meetings, community service events, or professional development events please reach out - our Board would love to hear them!
I hope to see you all soon at an upcoming meeting!
Erin LaBuda, P.E., M. ASCE
Santa Barbara/Ventura Branch President
