President's Report

Hello ASCE Members,

On behalf of 2019-2020 ASCE Santa Barbara/Ventura Chapter Officers, welcome to our new fiscal year. With this year, new challenges are upon us. Our focus will be to encourage more participation from our members by attending the chapter general meetings, to hopefully recruit more members, and to interact more with our members so that we can pass on your ideas and suggestions on our platform and website.  We are expanding our social media interaction through our Social Chair and officer, Eva Von Thury. So, please send Eva your suggestions or social media news that can be shared with the rest of us on topics of your choice related to our profession.  One of our more challenging tasks is to choose Project of the Year (POY) and Engineer of the Year (EOY). So, please help us with an early announcement/ introduction of your preferred POY and EOY. I am pleased to announce our first general meeting topic, Engineers without Boarders, to be presented on November 14, 2019 in Santa Barbara. Hope to see you all there.

Jeff Tawakoli, PE

ASCE SB/Ventura Chapter President

Membership Spotlight

PE Spotlight

The PE licensing exam just took place Friday October 25th.  That means there is a new group of professional engineers to welcome to the industry.  Please let us know if there are any engineers you work with that have passed so we can honor their accomplishment and hard work in our Newsletter.

Project of the Year and Engineer of the Year

As 2019 is comes to an end, start thinking about the exceptional projects you have worked on and the hard working engineers that helped bring those projects to fruition.  Applications for project of the year and engineer of the year will be available in November.
